Diagnostics

Veterinary Diagnostics in Port Jefferson, Long Island

In-House Laboratory Diagnostics: The Countryside Animal Hospital is equipped with inhouse testing equipment for not only emergency and pre-surgical testing, but also preventative medicine. This includes an in-house complete blood count (CBC) and serum chemistry analyzer, as well as Heartworm, tick-borne disease (including Lyme disease), Feline Leukemia and FIV, and intestinal parasites. We are equipped with stains to perform inhouse ear cytology and skin parasite testing.

Digital Radiography (X-ray): Digital radiography provides a clearer image and requires a shorter period of time for restraint to obtain an image. This reduces stress on a pet. If indicated, the images produced by digital radiography can be sent online for review by a board-certified veterinary radiologist.

In-House Ultrasound: At the Countryside Animal Hospital, we have an ultrasound machine to assess a patient in real time. X-rays evaluate size and shape, but not internal architecture. Ultrasound is a non-invasive way to evaluate internal organs of the abdomen and thorax.
